Love in the National Museum
I was struck today by this beautiful Egyptian carving in The National Museum on Kildare Street. How delicately the tenderness between the two lovers has been depicted and how detailed their dress. I also love that this is one of the artefacts that Lady Harriet Kavanagh an Irish Adventuress brought back from her expeditions in the 1850s. A unique Irish woman exploring Ancient Egypt on her own and bringing back her treasures to Ireland. A glimpse of Egypt we wouldn’t have had without her. Thank you Harriet!
