Rua Ruth Loves…
It’s a week of love thanks to a certain St. Valentine so my Ruaruth Loves post this week is going to be even more rose-mantic than ever!
Let’s kick off with a Dublin love-story and there’s none that has captured the hearts of artists and musicians alike than the love-story of Patrick Kavanagh and Dr. Hilary Moriarty. Hilary was Kavanagh’s muse and the girl who inspired the poem Raglan Road, see a blog I wrote on them here and his love letters to her here.
History has given us some pretty cool couples over the mists of time from the 1960s folk kids that were Joan Baez and Bob Dylan, Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath- the sweethearts of the beat generation and the madcap and impossible duo that were Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera- he carried a gun, she carried a flask – it’s safe to say that Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera were a great match! Check out these fabulously famous couples in love over here.
I LOVE a Flea market and I found some tips for surviving the world’s biggest flea here.
Ever dreamt of buying a romantic pink Italian castle and spending the rest of you life in it? Here are the answer to your prayers.
Just watched the trailer of Spring in a Small Town – a Chinese film about love China after WW2 and it is on in the IFI from Saturday 14th February as part of Dublin’s Chinese New Year Festival.
And last but not least my lovelies I couldn’t resist this breath-taking moment in a poppy field from a Room with a View.
