Ruaruth loves…

Image above is a detail from Yves Saint Laurent’s Love Posters, which he created as a gift each year for his friends. They are displayed in a small exhibition at Jardin Marjorelles, Marrakesh.

Time for another installment of what I’m loving this week.

It’s cashmere weather and I love Sophie Dahl’s piece on the JCrew blog about the soft stuff.

As diaries start to fill for Christmas there are some superb Christmas craft and design markets happening about the city- Christmas on the Square with The Irish Design Shop and Gifted in Ranelagh curated by my pal Heather Finn are the best and most beautiful way to do your Christmas shopping .

And as part of #merrionsquarechristmas I am giving my Lost Fashion History of Merrion Square talk again on Saturday 29th of November. To book a spot on the tour see the Merrion Square website here.

Have you ever noticed faded lettering from an old and forgotten businesses on a building’s facade or a name wound into a beautifully preserved mosaic on buildings around the city. I am totally and utterly taken by this new book- Ghost Signs by Antonia Hart with photographs by Lynn Nalty which explores the stories behind Dublin’s ghost-signs.

‘Twas the month before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a Cleo mouse! I adore these tweed mice handmade in Co. Clare for Cleo, and they’re back for another Christmas frolic in the Makers & Brothers pop-up–  The Tiny Department Store in The Fumbally Exchange in Dame Lane and you can also buy these tiny friends here.
