A Sybil Exhibition

Sybil Connolly white gown in Brown Thomas

Sybil Connolly queen of Irish fashion in the 1950s reigns again this Autumn/Winter 2013 in Brown Thomas. This excellent exhibition curated by John Redmond of Brown Thomas and the Hunt Museum is a rare opportunity to see her gorgeous gowns and get an up close view of  the incredible craftsmanship and unique handkerchief linen pleats she is so famous for. These works of art would have been made on Irish soil, by Irish hands in Number 71, Merrion Square. Included in the exhibition are some of her sketches and photo-shoots from media of the time. The installation highlights the heritage of  Irish design and sits alongside new Irish Designers CREATE, a selection of Irish designers from Emma Manley and Derek Lawlor to Sharon Wauchob, to name but a few. A must see of Irish design past and present and future.
