Tokyo Story

Tokyo city skyscrapers

The day I arrived in Tokyo a good friend of mine emailed me to say I should embrace every moment of my adventure and sent me a Buddhist mantra “present moment, wonderful moment” to guide me on my way. I took this mantra to heart on every part of my  journey around Japan. Whether it was in the midst of the craziness of Shinjuku station- the busiest train station in Japan and consequently the world, down lantern lit streets, in cool green Zen gardens or zipping alongside rice-paddies on a bullet-fast Shinkansen train. Each moment  in Japan was so different and so vivid it wasn’t hard to gaze transfixed at everything and drink in the moment, the wonderful moment.

One of the highlights of my visit to Tokyo was a visit to Toyko Sky View  in the Mori tower in Roppongi. Mori tower is a 54 floor skyscraper with a 360 degree observation deck and a world class art gallery atop- Mori Art Museum. The circular viewing deck allows the most spectacular view of the city with a bar and cafe that serve cocktails to keep you refreshed until the wee small hours. It is here that I sat to watch the sun go down and watch the mesmeric sight of Tokyo’s many millions of twinkling lights turning on. Here’s an edit of some of the photos I took for you to meditate on…
