The Vintage Sessions

I’ve loved Vintage ever since I found a stash of my Mother’s pretty 1970s dresses in the attic and in an instant all the allure and glamour of a different decade caught my imagination.  We’re talking 1990s West of Ireland here when a pair of lemon yellow hot-pants with ostrich feather trimmed bolero would certainly turn a head or two down the old bog road. Over the last decade Vintage has become more than an art-school fascination and has creeped into the mainstream consciousness. So, what is it about retro style which makes all of our hearts miss a beat? Is it the authenticity amidst chain store monotony?  Is it the stories that are embodied into the style? And what’s the history of vintage in Ireland? Where was our Portobello Rd? These are some of the many questions myself and Vintage Irene have been asking each other over a cup of tea (or two – in hand-painted china cups of course) The result of all that tea drinking has been the birth of a fabulous new vintage event-The Vintage Sessions. And, what is The Vintage Sessions all about? Well, it’s a celebration of Vintage in Ireland, together, myself and Irene, want to put our passion for Vintage and fashion history into an event that WE both would like to go to, an event which showcases the best of vintage in Ireland, our amazing stores across the country, our stylish Irish and  an event which explores the magic of vintage shopping and an event which will become a forum for vintage where you can learn more and talk about fashion history. And so, to this end we have created a wonderful line this December 8th….
