Ireland’s Fashion Radicals
I believe Ireland has always been fashionable but we have over the mists of time seemed to have forgotten this fact.
Life through a Lens
We live our lives almost consistently through a lens these days, whether it’s on FaceTime, Instagram, Insta Stories, Snapchat, YouTube or plain old fashioned TV we are constantly interacting with screens and mobile devices. But what’s new to this camera game is the self-gaze.
Style on the Square
That wintry chill is in the air, a touch of Jack Frost is adding a little glitter in the early morning and flamboyant wreaths are hung on the colourfully painted doors of Merrion Square. Yes, it’s time for Christmas on The Square an annual event which hosts a whole range of fun Christmassy activities tomorrow
National Treasures
I come from a long line of hoarders who have saved and collected everything they found interesting over the years in garages, garden sheds and barns! From old grandfather clocks to family memorabilia and much more besides.

Threads of Sligo
This weekend I went home for the June Bank Holiday to spend some time delving into research for a special event for a collective I am part of for the Lily and Lolly CraftFest.

Fashion History focus on Lost Tours
Fashion in Art
I had a whirlwind trip to New York last September which meant I had a chance to see all the cultural delights the city has to offer. I returned with a memory card full of photos and a head full of fashion stories which I would like to share with you here, starting with the amazing Fashion in Art tour I took at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Magic at Fraoch
I have wanted to go on a Fraoch Retreat for a number of years now and was delighted to get the opportunity to do so this year as we transitioned from 2016 to 2017. One of the most wonderful things about Fraoch is how unique it is…
A Rua Ruth year
At this time of year I always feel compelled to look back at the year that was, and it’s been an interesting one for me, the #LostTours and for Rua Ruth. I have selected my top 7 most amazing moments from the year below.
Christmas Eve Postcard
I thought I would share something which I think is very charming, a Christmas eve postcard which is almost 100 years old.
In the press 2016
What a year for The Lost Fashion History of Dublin Tours. I have been so delighted to showcase my tours to an even wider audience and also so chuffed to be featured in many different publications. See the line-up of amazing articles below and thank you to everyone who supported me.
18 Stafford Terrrace
I have always loved the idea of time travelling and I got as close I as I possibly could to this notion on a recent visit to London to see 18 Stafford Terrace – a Victorian house stopped in time.
Costumes from The Crown
I went on a lovely jaunt to London last week which led me back to many old haunts, one of them being my old work place Liberty of London. I was smitten by their Christmas window inspired by The Nutcracker which was dressed with a Royal Ballet inspired set, complete with twirling ballerina shoes and waving fans.
No Idle Day
This Saturday I will be doing a very special Lost Fashion History of Dublin Tour for No Idle Day with all proceeds going to Dublin Simon Community.
Xanadu
Over the years I have heard amazing stories about Xanadu vintage store from many different people, whether it was tales about how wonderful it was – an Aladdin’s cave of amazing vintage…
The Lost Fashion of South William Street
Welcome to the Lost Fashion History of South William Street tour. I hope you enjoy. I have posted images above and below which will help you visualise the street and the many guises and fashionable inhabitants who have lived on the street.
On Tour
People often ask me what happens on one of my Lost Tours, what it involves and how I could possibly explain the story of fashion in Dublin over the centuries?
Number 21, Wicklow Street
The famous song a Dublin Saunter has a line that says Grafton Street’s a wonderland there’s magic in the air… but what it doesn’t say is that there’s even more fashion history magic if you turn the corner for a saunter down Wicklow Street.
Lost Fashion of O’Connell St
O’Connell Street as Ireland’s greatest thoroughfare has a wealth of hidden fashion history. Saints and sinners, rebels and Queens, rockstars and Dukes have all strolled down its wide boulevard.
